Claude Code
Annotate and talk to Claude
Highlight something in any app, press ⌥A and say what you think. Sloth keeps the address, the quote, your note and a screenshot. Collect as many as you like, then copy them all at once or send them to Claude with ⌥C.
Annotate with ⌥A
- Highlight the text you mean, on a web page, in a document or in any app. You can also annotate with nothing highlighted.
- Tap ⌥A, say your note, and tap ⌥A again. Or hold ⌥A while you speak and let go to save.
- The note appears in a small panel at the top right of your screen. Repeat for the next thing.
Each annotation keeps:
- Where you were. The full page address in Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi, otherwise the app and window title. The first time, macOS asks whether Sloth may read the browser's address.
- What you highlighted, as a quote.
- What you said, transcribed on your Mac.
- A screenshot of the window, if Sloth has Screen Recording permission.
Press Esc while recording to throw the note away. Either ⌥ key works, and Shift isn't needed.
The panel
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Expand | Shows every annotation in full: address, quote, note and screenshot. |
| Copy all | Copies the whole batch as Markdown, ready to paste into Claude, ChatGPT or any agent. |
| Send to Claude | Pastes the batch into the Claude app or the Claude Code terminal you used last. |
| × | Removes one annotation. |
| Folder | Opens the batch in Finder. |
| Clear | Starts a new batch. |
Every batch is also saved in your Sloth folder under Annotations/, as annotations.md with the screenshots next to it. Screenshot paths in the Markdown are absolute, so Claude Code can open them.
Talk to Claude with ⌥C
Tap ⌥C, say what you want, and tap again (or hold while you speak). Sloth pastes your words, followed by any annotations in the panel, into Claude and sends it.
- If the Claude app or a terminal running Claude Code is in front, it goes there. Otherwise it goes to the one you used last.
- Sloth waits about a second before pressing Return. Press Esc in that time to stop it.
- Pressed while you're on a web page, ⌥C brings that page along as context.
Quote and reply with ⌥Q
Highlight a passage in a chat, for example a Claude answer, and press ⌥Q. Sloth drops it into the app's reply box as a quote, with the cursor on a new line underneath, so you can type your reply straight away.
Settings and permissions
- Turn each key on or off in Settings › Shortcuts › Annotate & Claude. All three are on by default.
- The keys need Accessibility, which dictation already uses. Screenshots need Screen Recording.
- The keys don't work while a meeting is recording or you're dictating, because those already use the microphone.
